Here at Cowdray we are working towards providing a safe and enjoyable learning environment for our future superstars. So whether your kids already play or would like to give golf a go we have something for them!  Membership starts from only £30 and with our par 3 course just a stone’s throw from the clubhouse it is the perfect playground to hone their skills.

Our junior golf camp for all the members of the club was great fun last year so we are doing it again! The 4 days will take you further through the Golf Foundation passport scheme. Golf for the under 6’s, £5 each and all minis must be accompanied by an adult. Clubs can be provided from age 2 and up!! These sessions are now just half an hour. It seems long enough for concetration spans!!

Get the right KIT!!

It is so important to kit your kids out with clubs that aren't too long
or too heavy. US KIDS GOLF offer a range of clubs that are customised depending on your child's height.

The pro shop at Cowdray the range of USKG gear and
Katie is always happy to advise on the size your child needs -although the fitting chart above should tell you all you need to know.

The best club to start them off is a 9 or 8 iron. Sets are available and clubs can be ordered quickly if we haven't got your size in stock.

Junior Golf in general... WHY PLAY GOLF??

From my experience golf is a fantastic sport to learn to play from any age, some feel the children should wait until they are old enough to concentrate properly. But the 3-5 years olds I teach on a Saturday would beg to differ. The truth is any age is the “right” age to introduce your children to golf.

The most important thing is to keep their learning experience fun and simple.

Scrambles help get those who have just started playing out on the course for the first time, they are also great fun for any golfer!

The Mini Masters open sessions (FOR THE UNDER 5'S) on Sundays were a great success at Hamptworth and I will be organising some more session at Southampton Golf Club soon... With juniors as young as 2 coming along to have a swing...

Getting children to have a go at golf has been a hugely fun experience on all parts. I went into the schools in the Landford area in 2005 giving indoor golf sessions using tri-golf. The children went nuts for it – many hadn’t even thought about trying golf before then- and have since attended lessons with me and some are playing on golf courses ona regular basis.

Girls Allowed Group at Cantell School, Southampton

Girls are making a big appearance in all of my coaching sessions; we recently had a half term girls afternoon which saw girls having a go at golf for the first time.

Keeping them in the game needs hard work but as soon as they form friendships with each other, the golf course becomes their social space as well as somewhere to keep fit and evolve their games.

The children’s golfing birthday parties that I run are very popular and prove to be a gateway to young golfers introducing all their school friends (most of whom wouldn’t ever dream of playing golf) to the sport. These consist of fun hourly sessions followed by the traditional party afterwards! For more info call me on 07780 684334. Golf is such a fantastic sport for young children to take up. I think it teaches manners and etiquette as well as getting the children out in the fresh air- and certainly keeps teenagers focused and safe in a friendly and grown up environment that is still so much fun. Golf has so many benefits to youngsters that it is difficult to list all of them; it seems to be a game that anyone can enjoy at any level; demonstrated when I teach disabled children and see how much enjoyment they get from playing a sport. It is incredible that something like golf can make them so happy; it really makes a difference to their lives.

INDOOR GOLF SESSIONS!!
Get your group involved in a fantastic and fun activity.
This is ideal for cubs, brownies or any group who work towards badges as it can be used for this very purpose.

A fun 1-hour session teaching the basics of golf in a safe, fun environment. Plastic clubs and sponge balls are used during a session packed with fun team games and skills. The group will learn safety, rules and etiquette as well as a new sport! USING THE SNAG SYSTEM ... "Start new at golf"
